START OF FIELDWORK AT NEWLY ACQUIRED PERLITE PROPERTY

Electra is pleased to announce that fieldwork has commenced at the newly acquired Blackwater Perlite Deposit (refer to News Release January 7, 2008).

A newly constructed access road has recently been opened along the lower Blackwater Creek.  New road cuts and borrow pits have been excavated which will be investigated in the near future.

Loring Labs, a widely recognized commercial laboratory who have extensive experience in Perlite expansion testing will be used in the current sampling program.  Further work is planned for April 2008.

Electra is currently in discussions with various Institutional Investors to explore methods to aggressively expand the company’s corporate initiatives.  Given the ongoing progress in securing potential new long term supply contracts with Major cement producers in the Vancouver area, the company will not be proceeding with the previously contemplated extension of warrants.

J. T. Shearer, M.Sc., P.Geo, President, is the Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 who supervised the preparation of the technical material of this release.
