Lang Bay Project Report

Electra's Lang Bay project is located 15 km south east of Powell River, B.C. It consists of 32 wholly owned mineral claims covering 800 hectares (approximately 2,000 acres).

Exploration and development during the 1980's led to the discovery of quality primary kaolin and subsequent exploration demonstrated the existence of extensive primary and secondary kaolins which laboratory testing and market research have identified as having filler and ceramic potential. The Lang Bay Kaolin Deposit is also known to contain the rare metals gallium and germanium.

Kaolinite has become an important constituent in many industrial applications. In B.C., it is primarily used to make high-quality paper, as a filler material in the paper making process, and to impart a bright white colour and achieve stability qualities to the finished paper product.

Currently, there is no source of high-quality kaolinite in B.C. and, as such, it is imported primarily from Georgia, USA. The closeness of the Apple Bay kaolinite deposits to the large pulp and paper producers in the Pacific North West offers customers a significant cost saving in terms of shipping a locally sourced product.

Electra is continuing exploration of the claims and is testing and evaluating bulk samples. The Company is working with potential customers to develop a product that matches their specifications.
